HENDERSON, NV - Today, Governor Joe Lombardo joined business leaders and economic development advocates from across Southern Nevada for an economic policy roundtable at the Henderson Chamber of Commerce's Launchpad, highlighting Nevada's historic economic progress and outlining his vision for continued job creation, business growth, and economic diversification over the next four years.
During the discussion, Governor Lombardo highlighted new unemployment figures released this morning, showing Nevada's unemployment rate has fallen to 4.7%, its lowest level since February 2020. The historic milestone follows Nevada's creation of more than 100,000 jobs under Governor Lombardo's leadership, over $6 billion in new private investment, and the elimination or streamlining of more than 900 burdensome state regulations.
"When I took office, Nevada was still recovering from one of the worst economic downturns in our state's history. Today, we've created more than 100,000 jobs, brought billions in new investment to Nevada, and our unemployment rate is the lowest it's been since before the pandemic," said Governor Joe Lombardo. "That's real progress, but we're not done. Over the next four years, I'm going to keep taxes low, cut unnecessary regulations, support our small businesses, and make sure every Nevadan has the opportunity to succeed. We're going to keep building an economy that works for Nevada families."
The roundtable brought together a local small business owner and leaders from local chambers of commerce, including the Henderson Chamber of Commerce, Latin Chamber of Commerce, Vegas Chamber of Commerce, Asian Chamber of Commerce, and Nevada Pacific Islander Chamber of Commerce, all of which have endorsed Governor Joe Lombardo for re-election. Participants discussed Nevada’s improving business climate, workforce development, economic diversification, and opportunities to continue strengthening Nevada’s economy.
"Governor Lombardo understands that a strong economy starts with creating an environment where businesses can succeed," said Scott Muelrath, President and CEO of the Henderson Chamber of Commerce. "Over the last four years, we've seen the impact of his commitment to reduce regulations, maintain a competitive tax environment, and support Nevada employers. The Henderson Chamber is proud to support Governor Lombardo's re-election because we know his leadership is helping businesses grow, create jobs, and invest in our communities."
Governor Lombardo also discussed his economic plan, “A Wage That Rises in an Economy That Delivers," which outlines his commitment to no new taxes, expanding workforce training, attracting new industries, and creating more good-paying jobs for Nevadans.
