LAS VEGAS – Since taking office, Governor Joe Lombardo has made energy affordability and reliability a top priority, delivering real results to keep costs down for Nevada families while strengthening the state’s long-term energy security. From maintaining some of the lowest electricity rates in the nation and fighting for major solar projects, to taking decisive action to stabilize Nevada’s fuel supply and push back against California’s costly policies, Governor Lombardo has focused on a balanced, all-of-the-above approach that puts Nevada consumers first.

“Governor Lombardo has taken a comprehensive, results-driven approach to energy - keeping electricity prices low, unlocking major solar projects to expand capacity, and aggressively pushing back on policies that threaten to raise costs for Nevadans. At the same time, he’s worked to strengthen Nevada’s fuel supply and reduce price volatility, always with a clear focus on affordability, reliability, and long-term energy security.” - Halee Dobbins, Spokesperson for the Lombardo for Governor Campaign

Governor Lombardo Has Kept Nevada Electricity Prices Low

  • Nevada continues to offer some of the lowest electricity prices in the country, with residential rates through September 2025 coming in 11% below the Mountain West average, 26% below the national average, and 60% lower than California, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

  • From 2005 to 2025, Nevada recorded the smallest increase in electricity rates nationwide, according to recent data from the Energy Policy Research Foundation

  • With low electricity prices, Nevada offers the best savings for electric vehicle drivers in the Southwest, according to the Southwest Energy Efficiency Project (SWEEP).

  • In August 2025, Governor Lombardo wrote to U.S. Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum to ask for approval on three major solar projects in Nevada.

  • In November 2025, Governor Lombardoasked President Trump directly to expedite permitting approval for Nevada solar projects.

  • By early January 2026, the solar projects mentioned in Governor Lombardo’s letter to U.S. Secretary Burgumwere approved by the U.S. Department of the Interior. This includes Libra Solar, Boulder Solar III, and Dry Lake East solar projects, which saved more than 1,500 construction jobs for Nevadans.

  • Governor Lombardo has advocated for the National Energy Dominance Council’s approval of 18 new solar projects, all of which have been subsequently moved on to be approved or to complete the rest of their regular permitting process.
