LAS VEGAS – Democrat Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson today endorsed Governor Joe Lombardo for re-election, pointing to their years of bipartisan work to keep Nevadans safe and violent criminals behind bars.
"I've known Joe Lombardo for 30 years. I'm a Democrat, and he's a Republican, but that has never mattered when it comes to public safety. We've worked together to put violent criminals away and keep them there. We've gone after domestic abusers, drug dealers, and human traffickers, and we've made our schools safer for kids and teachers,” said Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson. “I’ve always put people and results ahead of party politics, and as both Sheriff and Governor, Joe has always done the same. I’m proud to support Joe Lombardo.”
Wolfson's career in the criminal justice system spans more than four decades. He began in 1980 as a law clerk in the Clark County District Attorney's Office before serving as a deputy district attorney and assistant U.S. attorney. He later spent more than 25 years as a private defense attorney. After eight years on the Las Vegas City Council, Wolfson was appointed district attorney in 2012. He was elected to the position in 2014 and reelected in 2018 and 2022. Today, he leads an office of nearly 800 employees, including approximately 200 deputy district attorneys who handle roughly 140,000 cases each year.
As Sheriff of Clark County, Governor Lombardo worked closely with Wolfson as the District Attorney's Office and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department partnered to hold violent offenders accountable and bring justice to victims. That partnership continued after Governor Lombardo was elected.
“I’m proud to have the support of Steve Wolfson. For years we've worked together to hold criminals accountable, crack down on domestic violence and sexual abuse, and seek justice for victims of crime. Steve and I may have different party labels, but when it comes to keeping our community safe, we always stand together,” said Governor Lombardo. “I'm grateful to have Steve's trust and support as we keep working to make Nevada the safest place to live, work, and raise a family.”
