LAS VEGAS – New campaign finance reports reveal a stark contrast in who is fueling Nevada's race for governor: while Governor Joe Lombardo's campaign is powered overwhelmingly by Nevadans, MORE than half of Aaron Ford's fundraising comes from outside the Silver State.
According to the latest filings, approximately 62% of the money Aaron Ford raised from donors came from outside of Nevada, compared to just 25% for Governor Lombardo.
The numbers reinforce what Nevadans have seen throughout Aaron Ford's time in elected office: while collecting a taxpayer-funded salary, he spent 420 days out of state, and now, his campaign is taking the same out-of-state approach - relying on donors outside Nevada instead of earning support here at home.
"Aaron Ford has spent years proving he'd rather be anywhere but Nevada, so it's no surprise that the majority of his campaign money now comes from people who reside outside the state," said Halee Dobbins spokeswoman for Governor Joe Lombardo's campaign. "The pattern is clear: Aaron Ford takes an out-of-state approach to governing and now he's taking the same out-of-state approach to campaigning. While Ford chases out-of-state donors and far-left political insiders, Governor Lombardo is earning the support of the people who actually call Nevada home."
